B.A.B.E. OF THE MONTH: MEDGE BEAUVOIR-YELLOWLEES
Every month, we're spotlighting a Badass Beauty Expert (B.A.B.E.) and picking their brain on all things beauty, wellness, and channeling your inner baddie. We hope these interviews will serve as a platform for raw and vulnerable discussion—and inspire you to step out of your makeup and skincare comfort zones.
Medge is a fashion, beauty, motherhood, and lifestyle expert and blogger in Toronto.
Define yourself in three words.
Motivated. Creative. Personable.
What are three things you can't live without? (Beauty products can be included, but they don't have to be!)
Coffee! I have two little ones—I need it. Preferably hot, but I’ll take it in any form!
I have been addicted to Audible! I love listening to a good thriller while doing chores or out on a walk or run.
Instant noodles. I love them! And they save lives! When I’m in a pinch (which is literally at least four out of five days) they come in so handy!
What prompted you to make the switch to safe makeup brands? I read somewhere that what you put on your skin ends up in your bloodstream at some point. I had just given birth to my son and that scared the crap out of me! So it started with baby products and then I was like, "Wait, I deserve clean products too!" So I started switching out empties for clean alternatives.
What advice would you give for finding safe cosmetics?
You don’t have to make the switch overnight! Little by little is just fine! And do your research. You don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for quality. Clean beauty can be affordable and effective, like CLOVE + HALLOW's products.
What do you think makes someone a badass? I think being true to yourself is the biggest badass quality. It sounds so cliché, but your super power is being you. So when we step into that, I think the badass emerges! Being real and unapologetically yourself is the ultimate badass.
How did you find your inner badass? I used to blog in secret. I told nobody at my old job that I had a blog. The only people who knew were my husband and best friends. When I started telling people what I did instead of hiding it in fear of judgment, I think that’s when I started letting my inner badass out! And now every time I go after something I want, I let her out just a little bit more!
What's the last song you listened to?
"Laugh Now Cry Later" by Drake
